The Birth of an F1 Driver

I had my first-ever road test on the Friday, November 10, 2023!

How exciting!

The test lasted a very long time. We started at 8am, and my test ended at about 12:30pm.

Semangat Malaysia! That day was a sunny day!
Waiting for the test to begin.
Still waiting. Do ignore the paper cup litter.

MEOW! MEOW MEOW MEOW!!! 😽
All of us who were taking the test had to wear this tag.
Here’s mine up close. 40 is a great number, Jesus was in the wilderness for 40 days.

Then one of the JPJ officers, the head in charge of the test that day, gave us a LOOOONG lecture on road safety, our driving mentality, and some useful exam tips.

Before our road test, we had to perform vehicle checks.
There are two types:
– RPK (checking the outer part of the vehicle)
– RSM (sitting in the driver’s seat and inspecting the wipers, lights, brakes etc.)

In the vehicle checking rounds, we were required to speak in a loud and clear voice, explaining all the parts. Two people inspected one vehicle simultaneously for RPK, while a JPJ officer supervised four people (imagine that!). Personally, I don’t think I did a fantastic job for either test. 🥶

Me being nervous didn’t help at all. At the beginning of my RPK, I greeted my examiner with a good morning and told him that I would like to start my RSM. He had this confused look on his face and said okay… It was like holding an orange and saying this is an apple.

After going through allll of that, it was time for my road test, which is also split into two parts:
1. Obstacle course (there are 5 obstacles)
2. On-the-road

Spoiler alert: this is the part where I failed.

I must confess that I failed at the very first obstacle, but I did pass my on-the-road test, obtaining just enough marks to scrape by.

Victory! I believe my on-the-road test examiner pitied me for failing the obstacle part of the test, so he gave me a pass.

After leaving the test area, I returned to the office as instructed. I handed over my test results and was informed that I needed to pay RM 1 for photocopy fees for my IC and driving license.

I didn’t have any small change with me, so I gave her RM 50. They ended up not charging me as the money was too big and online transaction wasn’t an option. I will bring RM 2 the next time I return for my re-sit to settle the payment.

GAGAL means fail. This is not a good picture brav.

I will be working hard to pass my re-sit scheduled for next Friday, December 15, 2023.

Thanks for reading, peace!
