Red Velvet Cake on Eid

Waddup dudes!

I made a Red Velvet cake on 2nd of May to celebrate the second day of Eid!

I’m Baker Lee! Jk XD

Before you get any wrong ideas, I actually used store-bought cake flour to make this cake.

Ingredients:

After I got the ingredients and poured the cake mix into the mixing bowl, I threw away the package. A few seconds later I realised that I need to refer to it, so I flipped it to the side with the instruction page and left it like that in the bin.

Relatable.

First, I threw the butter in.

The instruction said to use a cake mixer to blend the batter, but I don’t have that at home so I used my trusty egg whisk instead.

It was grueling work. I had to cut the butter into smaller pieces to get it to melt quicker, but it wasn’t enough because I just got the butter out of the fridge and it’s still hard. I can still see chunks of it after a while, so I changed to a bigger egg whisk.

The bigger one did absolutely nothing at all. I learned that bigger doesn’t necessarily mean that it’ll be better compared to its smaller counterpart.

Out of frustration, I added hot water into the batter in a desperate attempt to get the butter to melt faster. It worked, but I think I did something illegal in baking.

Batter looks even.

I don’t have an over, so I poured the batter into the rice cooker.

Looking good so far.

This rice cooker has an option for making cakes. Powerful.

After 50 mins, the cake was fully baked and we let it sit in the cooker for 10 more mins.

The cake smelt really bad, but the taste was actually pretty good.

I added some colourful sprinkles, which I’m pretty sure were already past the expiry date but that’s the only thing we have so I don’t really have many choices you see.

Have a blessed Eid everyone! 💖💖
