Rumah Sukan

Hey guys!

Today I went to school with spring in my step, because it’s my first Rumah Sukan meeting!!!

Every student has their own Rumah Sukan (rumah = house, sukan = sports), which is the house they’ll be representing for in the school sports day and other school sports events. Extra points will be awarded to the student’s Rumah Sukan if they achieved something in national or international sports competitions.

I believe that the Rumah Sukan in our school is named after positions in the Malay culture.

Here is the list of Rumah Sukan:

Sekolah Kebangsaan Menengah Puteri Titiwangsa Rumah Sukan

Bendahara
Meaning: Prime Minister
Colour:  Red

Temenggung
Meaning: Chief of Public Security
Colour:  Yellow

Laksamana
Meaning: Admiral
Colour:  Blue

Syahbandar
Meaning: Port Master
Colour:  Green

I’m a Laksamana girl, so happy (≧▽≦)!

I missed the opening part, because I was late to school (bad example, don’t be like me). We spent the first half of the meeting introducing all the people with positions (like president, secretary, treasurer etc.) and the other half practicing our chants.

Our chant leader is my friend and damn, she looks cool.

This is all quite new to me, as my old high school doesn’t have a system like this. We mostly compete individually or as a class unit. I’ve had it in my primary school years though, I was yellow girl back then. Now I’m blue girl.

Good night guys zzz.
